Edward L. Buchanan – Mode & Kunst
Before studying fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York, Edward L. Buchanan had already studied art at the Columbus College of Art & Design in Cleveland.
Our long journey together—Edward and I have known each other since 1992—when we lived together in a spacious loft on East 14th Street between C and D Avenues in New York, transforming it into a creative production space and engaging in an intense artistic exchange, established him as a gallery artist early on. This living and working environment had already inspired Günter Ücker, Heinz Mack, and Marisol in the 1960s and 1970s.
The lively lines in Buchanan’s fashion designs can instantly conjure up a new world of their own, brought to life by elegant and statuesque models. The immediate conveyance of his ideas through his unique illustrative fashion drawings has rapidly advanced his career.
Immediately after graduating, he was hired by Bottega Veneta in Milan to develop a women’s wear line. At the time, the brand was known primarily for its luxury goods, such as handbags and accessories.
