Edward L. Buchanan – Fashion & Art

Edward L. Buchanan had already studied art at the Columbus College of Art & Design in Cleveland before studying fashion design at the New York Parsons School.
The long journey together - Edward and I have known each other since 1992 - when we lived together in a spacious loft on East 14th Street between C and D Avenues in New York and turned it into a creative production site and had an intensive artistic exchange, led him to become a gallery artist early on. The living and working location already inspired Günter Ücker, Heinz Mack and Marisol in the 60s and 70s.
The lively strokes of Buchanan's fashion designs can conjure up a new world of their own in an instant, animated by elegant and spindly models. The immediate transportation of his ideas through his unique illustrative fashion drawings quickly advanced his career.

Immediately after his studies, he was hired by Bottega Veneta in Milan to develop a womenswear line. At the time, the house was known in particular for its luxury goods, such as handbags and accessories.
Edward L. Buchanan's own Milanese fashion label Sansovino 6 has already made an appearance in the gallery, transforming the space into an Indigo Pop Up Shop in which his invention of knitted jeans wear  was staged like a spatial collage (numerous fashion houses have copied his knitted jeans .)
The collage itself is another group of works that is also used to communicate his attitude and creations. Unfortunately, the Corona years have postponed his second planned solo exhibition for the time being.
