Semjon H. N. Semjon of Semjon Contemporary, in collaboration with Salzgeber Buchverlage, is pleased to present during the Berlin PRIDE-weeks the book Andreas Fux – innocence Andreas Fux – innocence, published by them, and to facilitate a small parallel exhibition with the same title.*
Andreas Fux has been known to a wider audience at least since his photo book Süße Haut (Sweet Skin) from 2005. The undisguised view of the self-confident self-portrayal of young people of a new generation, who discover themselves in their permissive physicality.
innocence gathers the protagonists with partly unpublished pictures of them, capturing the naturally appearing self-image of these young people and creating beguilingly and disturbingly beautiful portraits of men, which indeed 'catches the viewer cold' through their unconcern and innocent naturalness.
The impressive interplay between the self-dramatization of the performers and the directed gaze of the camera by the image author makes Andreas Fux a master of portrait photography.
It allows us to participate in a new generation of the post-reunification era and from today, which portrays itself with an undisguised gaze and also self-confidently demands to live its own life.
The exhibition will be accompanied by two A1 posters signed by Andreas Fux, which can be purchased at the gallery. The photo book is also available in the gallery.
